Tony Wang (China)
Tony Wang comes from Si Chuan. He majored in International Trade in University and he is a TEFL graduate. He was a student in GLV in 2003. From 2003 ¨C 2006 Tony worked as an AA and SA Coordinator. He worked in a Swedish owned International Furniture Purchasing Company as the Representative of the Delta Region of Yangtze from 2006 ¨C 2008. Tony enjoys sharing his experiences of Learning English and business. He loves playing the guitar and he won the third prize in the 6th National Finger Style Guitar contest of China in 2008.
Grant Ruroede (USA)
Grant was born in Chicago, Illinois and attended the University of Illinois in the United States, graduating with a Degree in Economics. After graduation, he moved to sunny San Diego, California where he worked various office jobs, including Office Manager and Accounting. After taking the TEFL course he volunteered here at GLV and greatly enjoyed his experience with the teachers and students. He hopes to contribute his educational and professional experience to the students at GLV and looks forward to learning as much as he can while in China, including Mandarin. Grant enjoys reading, listening to music and traveling.
Ivan Rego (USA)
Ivan Rego,from Charlotte North Carolina has his roots in India.He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He has worked for IBM and other Companies as an Electrical and Software Engineer.Ivan has an advanced TESOL certificate. He has taught 'basic skills' classes in the community.He has coached youth soccer,loves the outdoors and gardening.Ivan hopes to bring his learning from community involvement and work in the corporate world - a rich mixture of culture and diversity that exemplifies the United States of America-to contribute positively to GLV and its students.
Joe Kent (USA)
Joe Kent is from a small town in New York State, near Hamilton College where he obtained a degree in Anthropology and history. Joe also studied at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and in Portugal. In the United States, Joe has worked in the hospitality industry between hostels in maritime New England and a hotel in Colorado. Joe first became interested in teaching English through an anthropology class that led to volunteering at a refugee center and teaching English to people from around the world. He enjoys basketball, hiking, photography, backpacking, skiing, film, and cultural studies. Joe hopes to enrich the already diverse background at GLV with his own personal life experiences and previous teaching experience while learning everything he can about China.
Oleg Nizelnik (Russia)
Oleg is from Siberia, the city of Blagoveshchensk, which shares a border with China. He attended Amur State Medical Academy in the same city graduating as a Doctor of Medicine. After graduation, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine gaining a PhD in these fields. Before coming to GLV, he had12 years experience in teaching students medicine. Teaching the English language has become his second speciality. He earned his TEFL certification from TEFL international, Zhuhai. Oleg is interested in modern philosophy. He is also educated in music. His hobbies include: cycling, fishing, and climbing mountains. Oleg has travelled throughout China, Korea; he has trained in Austria several times. Oleg enjoys being a member of GLV¡¯s teaching team. He is energetic and eager to make a long - term commitment to the life of GLV sharing with students all his knowledge and personal experience.
Errin Valentine (USA)
Errin Valentine is from Los Angeles, California. He earned his Bachelors of Art degree in History and is a TEFL certified teacher. After graduating from university Errin worked in Real Estate refinancing home loans. Looking for a change he travelled to Japan in 2005 and taught conversational English in Tokyo. Errin came to China in 2008 and taught Business English in various schools around Zhuhai. His interests range from doing extreme sports, reading thriller novels, watching anime and shopping. He is happy to be in China and to now be a part of the GLV family.
Joanne Seymour (England)
Joanne was born in Plymouth, England. She graduated from the University of Leeds in 2009 with a Bachelors degree in Chinese and Italian. As an undergraduate she studied in Italy and Tianjin, and ever since it has been her dream to return to China and teach English.Joanne feels priviledged to work with such a diverse and interesting range of students and teachers, and hopes she can inspire a love of languages in her students.Her interests include music,films,travelling and Chinese culture.
Edward K.Martin (USA)
Edward Martin was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest of the USA.After graduating from Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Washington State as a National Merit Scholar he attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon. His major was in the Biological Sciences.During the summers he worked for the Northwest Youth Corps,a non-profit organization. Edward led and taught 6 week residential, experiential based programs focusing on environmental, community and vocational learning.He also studied abroad in Florence, Italy and traveled in Europe and Central America.In 2003 Edward graduated from Reed with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Liberal Arts.He was also the captain of the basketball team at Reed during his junior year.In October, 2009 Edward completed his TESOL certification in Zhuhai, China. Edward looks forward to teaching and learning from GLV students.
Jerry(Yu Fei) Su (Australia)
G'day,You are looking at Jerry.He has spent most of his life in the peaceful land of Melbourne, Australia.Throughout the years Jerry has completed a degree in Computer art and design and a degree in Music Teaching. He has taught subjects such as Multimedia, Visual art and Music.Jerry has worked as a music director and composer for university musicals,as well as a Freelance illustrator and designer for Street magazines and DVDs.His interests include: Music recording and performing,fine arts,singing and badminton.His wish is to bring out the creative mind in Chinese people.
Joseph D'Amico (USA)
Joseph was born and raised in Champaign Illinois, U.S.A. He attended the University of Kentucky where he majored in English. After graduation, Joseph's love of travel brought him to Zhuhai where he received his TESOL certification. Joseph has traveled all over the world including Mexico, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Germany. After arriving in China, Joseph immediately fell in love with the people and culture. When asked why he chooses to live in China, Joseph always replies, ¡°Although I have been to many countries, China is the only one I could see myself spending a lifetime in.¡±
Keith Hayward (New Zealand)
Keith was born in New Zealand and graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Surveying.Keith worked for 2 years in New Zealand as a Computer Programmer for scientists.He then worked in Australia and New Zealand as a Surveyor for 4 years. He worked on a vast amount of projects ranging from subdivisions to large scale engineering projects.In his spare time Keith enjoys music, travelling, new food and learning about the world.Keith enjoys sharing his knowledge and helping people to better themselves. His vast experience and knowledge enable him to make a very good contribution to GLV.
Kelly Harrison (South Africa)
Kelly hails from South Africa.She studied a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) degree in Organizational Psychology at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, and previously worked in the recruitment industry in London before changing career and coming to China.In her free time, Kelly acts as a Trustee to a Zimbabwean based charity from anywhere in the world. She loves to travel and immerse herself in new culture,and challenge herself to living a different way of life.Kelly has a deep respect for Chinese culture and custom.During her stay in China she hopes to generate some enthusiasm for an often unknown part of the world, Africa, within GLV, as well as in China.She also hopes to spark an interest in people to discover more about themselves and the world around them.
