Ping Hong (China) Director
The founder of Gateway Language Village, Hong Xiu Ping, completed his Master's degree at Purdue University, Indiana. After working several years in the USA he returned to China to contribute to its future development. Ping realised that the most important factor in helping people learn a language was the creation of the right environment. The total immersion method (TIE) used at Gateway has been successful in helping many thousands of students to quickly build up their skill and confidence in using English.
James Yi (China) Executive Director
James Yi,comes from Hubei province.A tough childhood life had made him strong and enthusiastic.He has been a management officer in business enterprises,and successfully set up his own commercial company.He was a GLV student in 2001. He enjoys Total Immersion English a lot and appreciates GLV's concept of teaching and education.He is easy-going and has a strong enterprising spirit. He enjoys the challenges of life and works towards a "harmonious life".Interests include friends and travel.
Alan Fryback (USA) Senior Management/Finance Consultant
Born in the USA but lived mainly in Colombia and Macau.Education focused on physics, mathematics and education. His work experience has enabled him to see new opportunities and develop new programs and activities. As director of the School of the Nations in Macau , his task was to build educational, financial and management systems for the school in the kindergarten, primary and secondary levels. He hopes his experience in school administration, financial management and ability to create educational material will contribute positively to GLV's development.
Claudia Swan (USA.) Senior English Teacher
Claudia Swan, from the USA, has lived in the Zhuhai area for more than 16 years.She is chiefly responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the school. A professional teacher, she has a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and is one of the most experienced language teachers in South China. She has taught at many schools and universities and has developed language programs for many schools, major companies and government agencies.
Kelly Morine (Canada) English Program Training and Development Administrator,Teacher Recruitment Coordinator
Kelly was born in Eastern Canada and was a business woman and entrepreneur for over 10 years in her native country. She is a Certified Family Consultant. Kelly is a highly qualified, TESOL trained teacher and one of GLV's most experienced teachers. She has been teaching in GLV for over 10 years. In addition to teaching in the TIE program Kelly regular teaches company and business classes as well as training public school teachers. Her current position is as the Training and Development Administrator and Teacher Recruitment Coordinator in the English Program.Her educational background is in the fields of Business Management and Administration, Communication and Education.

Robert Ayres ( Australia ) GLV Hangzhou English Program Administrator
Robert is Australian and studied journalism at RMIT University in Melbourne . He has travelled around the world twice which fuelled his love for travelling and meeting people. Teaching English was the perfect career-change choice. He taught pronunciation to Asian students whilst deciding where to teach overseas. He chose China for its amazing history and the mystique of its people. He taught at Xiaolan Government schools before coming to GLV. He loves the Chinese lifestyle and is learning Mandarin because he plans to stay a while.
Mary Lewinski (USA) GLV Zhuhai English Program Administrator
Mary Lewinski come from Detroit, Michigan. She worked for the State of Michigan in the information technology arena (computers) for over 30 years. She was also a part time teacher at Macomb Community College where she taught Systems Analysis and Introduction to Computers. She and her husband Tom McDowell live in Tampa, Florida and now make Zhuhai their home, where they hope to serve the people of China.
Mark Lee ( England ) Evening Program Coordinator
Mark Lee is from south England and was educated in Portsmouth and Bristol . After completing his schooling he moved to various places around the UK in search of different careers, from labourer to management. A passion for teaching and the Asian culture started in Bangkok where he began working with deaf and mute children of Thailand . Sign Language is a hobby he still pursues today. In his free time he enjoys scuba diving, logic puzzles and I.T. His aim for GLV and China is to make a positive difference to as many lives as possible.
Jene Bellows (USA.)
Jene Bellows serves the school primarily as Senior Consultant and advisor for strategic planning, development and intercultural communication. She has been intimately associated with Chinese people all over the world, and most particularly in China for more than 18 years. Mrs. Bellows has been involved with the school since its inception. She, with her husband, Bob Bellows, lives in Zhuhai.
Sandra Lee (USA.)
From Kauai,Hawaii,Sandra Lee is an English language teacher with a master's degree in Psychology and many years experience as a public speaker,counselor and professional trainer in the USA. She has helped people from many different cultures adjust to the pressures of modern life in the West and is an expert in personal communication skills. She has worked for many organizations and companies and has a great interest in the future of China.She lived for several years in Japan and has a profound respect for the wisdom of Asian cultures.
Tom McDowell (USA)
Tom has been a teacher at GLV since the beginning of 2003. Tom's past experience serving in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972 and his extensive travel to over a dozen countries has given Tom a unique view of cultures around the world. Tom participated and was a teacher assistant in the Dale Carnegie courses in the U.S. Tom has also learned and taught leadership to men in the Mankind Project for ten years. Tom's business experience as a plant manager in three metal processing plants and his five years sales if insurance has also given Tom the experience needed to give students a well rounded perspective on American business.
