It is wonderful that China is welcoming joint venture investments by Western business and has opened its doors to Westerners and other foreigners and some of their cultures and customs. This will certainly help the growth of China's economy and promote international good will. Learning from one another is always a benefit for all concerned.
But prudence must be the order of the day. Not everything Western will be helpful to the betterment of Chinese development. How does one decide which will be good for the populace and which is not necessarily the correct
procedures to follow?
Anything that will interfere with the 5000 year old China's culture should be examined carefully as time has proven these advantages are not to be discarded indiscriminately in fact, the West could learn many things from
the ancient Chinese customs; respect for parents, teachers and authority are but a few precious attributes.
China advances its position in the world by joining the WTO, having the Olympic Games and training excellent sports personnel. The leadership of China is playing an important role in world affairs by promoting trade and
exchanging technical information between other countries and making personal relations with the world leaders.
Remember, rapid growth can be painful and caution should be the watchword.
