Eight weeks have passed so swiftly that
I find I must leave before I realized it. Eight weeks
is a short time in a person's life, but this period has
left a deep impression on me.
The first day I came to Gateway Language Village is clear
in my mind. At that time,
I wouldn't speak a complete sentence. When Faye asked
me some questions,
I felt very nervous. I couldn't give her a clear answer.
I felt very chagrined. Before
I came here, I had studied English for about six years.
My English level was such that I couldn't explain what
I wanted to say. Such shame! However, Claudia gave me
hope. She made me open my 'golden mouth'. She encouraged
me to speak English all the time.
Before long, I became more and more confident. I can say
that I'm not afraid to
speak English any more. I'm not afraid I will make a mistake
in English. Using
English everyday was how I made great progress. In Gateway
Language Village,
we eat together, help each other, speak English to each
other. It is not divided between rich and poor. We just
have a goal: improve our English. If you have a strong
passion for learning English, you will get it in the Peace
Club. There are many different kinds of English programs
in the Peace Club everyday. I learned many things about
western culture and people's lives in western countries
from them. It has helped me in my job and in my future
life.
I have met many friends in Gateway Language Village. They
are all very kind, like Charlie and Tommy, my first roommates.
They always woke me up in the morning. Marcia, who has
left, always corrected my English mistakes. She was of
great help to my English studies.Sharon and I were always
lovers in the presentation, We had lots of fun and laughs.
Before I leave, I want to thank all the teachers, staff,
and students at Gateway Language Village. Kevin, my first
teacher, taught me how to build my vocabulary. He was
lots of fun and I could say what I wanted to be in his
class. Eva taught me how to debate. She gave us some acute
questions to debate. It made me learn many things about
western countries. Kelly is the strictest teacher in the
Peace Club. I wrote many articles in her class. It made
me very tired, but I am proud that I could have Kelly
- she is an excellent teacher. I like her very much. Ben
taught me about academic writing. Abe gave me an active
course about American culture for our presentation. I
learned pronunciation and business English from James.
Claudia made English more interesting to me.
Though my course is coming to an end, there is nothing
that can express my appreciation to all of you. I will
keep these best memories in my mind.
