Farewell

By Marcia Fan

Four weeks have passed in the twinkling of an eye. It is time to say 'good-bye'. Now, I feel very sad. I like the Peace Club. I feel it is like a big, warm family. People have all been very kind to me. I feel very fortunate to have been able to study here. Even though I had a bad cold for two weeks, I feel that I made great progress here. I have no partner in Guangzhou to practice my English with, but Gateway Language Village gave me more opportunities to improve my listening and speaking and let me know many things about the culture and people of western countries.

There are many kinds of English programs every day in the Peace Club. It is much different from the traditional Chinese class. I have made many friends here. They are all vey nice. Last week, when I got a cold, many classmates took care of me. Someone went with me to see a doctor, and every morning when I arrived at the Peace Club a lot of people always asked me how I felt. It affected me very much.

Before I leave, I want to express my appreciation to all the teachers, staff and students. Kevin, my first teacher was a lot of fun. Kelly, my upper intermediate teacher is very strict. She works very hard. I like her very much. She is always in high spirits. She has taught the whole week and has done so without stopping for half a year. The Chinese way to describe her is to call her "iron woman." She always encourages us. I like the teaching method in the Peace Club. It has made me more self-confident.

For my hostess, Eva, I'm grateful for her hospitality. I enjoyed her wonderful debate classes as well. I want to say thanks to Ben, Claudia, Gordon, James, Ed, Abe, all of the teachers and all the students. I will remember the wonderful courses in the Peace Club and keep all of the people in the Peace Club in my mind forever. I hope we can keep in touch with each other in the future.
