Farewell
By Christine Wu

Time goes so swiftly that I find I have to leave before I realize it. The experience of the first day I joined Gateway Language Village is still so clear in my mind. Everything seems to have just happen-ed, yet today it is time for me to say "good-bye" to all my friends in the Peace Club.In Chinese it is said that happiness makes people ignore time's passing. During the last six weeks, I haven't been able to tell what the date or day was. All I knew was the weekday was only English. I have really enjoyed studying here. The Peace Club is like a large harmonious family. We eat together, laugh together, help each other, and share our happiness in our progress. Some things have impressed me very much.

First, all the teachers are enthusiastic about their career. They regard us not only as their students, but also their friends. They try their best to help us improve our English, and feel excited when we make progress. This friend-ship between teachers and students creates a pressure-free English environment, so that we can express ourselves freely during class. It is easy to inspire us to reach our potential to chat in English.

Secondly, at the Peace Club, no one laughs at others because they make mistakes when speaking English. There are cheering and clapping all around us. Teachers praise us when we try to say something and other students encourage us, so we become more and more confident. I have benefited a lot from other people's encouragement here.

Furthermore, most of the students have a strong passion for English learning. Nobody is isolated. We influence each other. This creates an animated English environment. It is natural that I have made great progress in English in such an excellent school.

Before I leave, I want to express my appreciation to all the teachers, staff and students, especially Kelly for her wonderful classes. Also, I really enjoyed going shopping with her. For my host, Eva, I'm grateful for her hospitality. She has always made me at home. I have enjoyed living with her, as well as her wonderful debate classes. I appreciate Benjamin for his excellent advise on our presentations. I enjoyed the outing with Jimmy, Ben, and Ed, going bowling with Kevin and also his interesting warm-up classes. I also enjoyed Lorne and Bob's performances, and Gordon and Ping's jokes brought me enjoyment, and at the same time made English more interesting and colorful to me. Thanks to Claudia, James and Jene for their warm-heartedness, patience and outstandingly professional classes. Also, I appreciate all my classmates for practicing English with me all the time. You are all wonderful. I will keep all my best memories of the Peace Club deep in my mind.

Though my study here is coming to an end, our friendship has just begun. It has been my honor to be your student and friend. I cherish our friendship and you are always in my mind! There is nothing that can express my appreciation to all of you. I hope everyone I have met here has a bright future.
