My training course here has come to an
end, and it is time for me to leave. Since I have come
to GLV and gone so many times before, I didn't think that
I would feel sad a few weeks ago when I realized the end
was coming. But as this date has approached this week,
I can't help but believe that I will miss Gateway Language
Village, miss the teachers, the staff and my classmates.
I wish I could stay here longer, but I have to leave now.
I have had a good time in the last 12 weeks here. During
this period, I've made good progress. But to be honest,
in my own opinion I think it was not as great as I had
expected. I was very glad to hear when some of the teachers
told me that I had made great progress since I came here,
yet I personally didn't realize it. Maybe one of the best
signs is that I don't realize that I have improved. And
another great improvement is that I have learned some
effective ways to keep improving my English by myself
even after I leave here.
Gateway Language Village provided us with
a total immersion environment of English that was a wonderful
experience for all the students who had never been exposed
to a foreign language. It provided us qualified and experienced
teachers, various programs, and various facilities. It
provided us an opportunity to get more familiar with the
English language, an opportunity to contact some western
culture, and a chance to have a closer look at different
gestures, customs or norms that helped us understand the
Westerners better. The school has taught me a lot of new
things and it has also offered me a lot of ways to improve
my English. It will help me a lot in the future. However,
I don't think that some of the programs are good enough,
and some of the facilities here are not sufficient. I
think that the school could make the programs better,
provide better facilities and find some effective ways
to make us move further and faster.
Thank you, Kevin, my teacher in the intermediate
class. You are such an attractive and interesting teacher,
and every student here loves you. Thank you, Kelly, my
teacher in upper intermediate class. You are a strict
and enthusiastic teacher, but I really appreciate your
seriousness and enthusiasm in teaching. Thank you, James
Lam, my teacher of Business Writing. Since you are ethnic
Chinese, you understand some specific difficulties and
needs for Chinese students in learning English and you
sometimes use special ways to teach, which obviously helps
me a lot. Thank you, Ben, my teacher in upper intermediate
class and my wonderful roommate. You are a good teacher
without doubt, and you are also a good English speaker
and listener. As emphasized at GLV, the best way to practice
speaking English is to talk to native English speakers.
Sometimes we just kept talking to Ben long into the night
leaving him exhausted, but he never complained. He is
also a very hard working student in learning Chinese.
Thank you, teachers, not only for your lessons but also
for your interest in helping us obtain a tool to communicate
with the world. Thank you staff, for your care and your
patience. And thank you to all the students, especially
my classmates. Without your company, I would have been
lonely here. I will miss you all.
Now it's time to say, good-bye. God bless
you, Gateway Language Village. God bless you all.
