Greetings from Current and Former GLV Students

I joined Peace Club as one of the earliest members in 1998. When I think back to those early days, many things pop into my mind.

At that time, a friend of mine invited me to go to Peace Club for a lecture held on one of the weekends. There I met the first and also the only full time English teacher, Mike. He was from Canada, and he was a very nice and intelligent young man. His major was Journalism. He was very devoted to his teaching job, and also very patient with the students’ questions. He also helped the other teachers in their work. At that time, he had just finished a European trip. He showed us many pictures on his digital camera and computer. He also shared what he learned culturally from his experiences, including the celebration of Christmas. Some people do not celebrate Christmas in the west. This was new to many Chinese people. Many Chinese people thought that all westerners celebrate Christmas.

The Peace Club developed tremendously in the summer of 1999, it attracted many students and English teachers from different places. I still remember some of the teachers and staff such as Kelly, Michelle and Erin, etc. The Peace Club discontinued the Children courses later on, and adjusted its teaching development strategy. Now it concentrates on an adult English Total Immersion Program.
