Greetings from Current Staff

Gina Zhang China, Vice Director, 2000
I was so lucky that I chose GLV as my first job, and I have been working here for almost 9 years. I love the people and the environment. People work as a team, and we help each other when there is a need.
GLV Staff are from all over the world. Students are from many places in China and some of them are from other countries, so GLV is like a small world. People with different background and experiences exchange information and share their cultures everyday, and we have learned so many different things in this community. It is a very interesting place to work.
Many people have talked about the unique culture in GLV. What is it? I would say it is peace, understanding, and truthfulness in people. This multi-cultural environment has formed people’s characters. GLV’s 10 years of service have attracted people who have the same goal, similar values or visions. This has become a major atmosphere in GLV. So, when you come to GLV, and work with people here, you will have this fantastic feeling.
GLV’s 10th is almost here. I sincerely send my greetings to its anniversary and its bright future!
James Yi China, GLV Executive Director, 2001
My wife, Karen and I came to GLV as students in 2001.
We wanted to learn English in an environment that would keep us from speaking Chinese easily. We also wanted to learn more about the cultures of other countries and GLV had teachers from all over the world. Of course our English improved and we met many friends, classmates, teachers and staff. We studied for 4 months.
After we left I couldn't forget this incredible experience. As I took care of my businesses I began to wish to be part of this special school.
I came to work as a staff member of GLV in 2003. It has been an unforgettable experience.
In 2006 we decided on Hangzhou as the location for the new campus. Denny, Arthur and I found an excellent location in the area of Hangzhou called Xiuboyuan. We opened the school on April 1st, 2007.
The two campuses work together to create a real village of students, staff and teachers.
As a student I was deeply influenced by my teachers and the staff. I found that GLV is not just a school; GLV is a village and a family.
As the Director of GLV Hangzhou I am so happy to see the dream of GLV growing. The teachers in Hangzhou are carrying on the tradition of teaching language and culture and, especially how to make friends all over the world using English. With the help of everyone at GLV Zhuhai and Hangzhou, the administrators, the staff and the teachers we will continue to grow and provide excellence in education.
I especially want to point out the support and trust that Ping has placed in me. His dream and vision continues. We are all grateful for all he has done and continues to do.
From the bottom of my heart and most sincerely, I thank you Ping and I thank everyone who has walked along this path with me. Let's all meet here for the 20th Anniversary.

Time flies, I have worked here in GLV more than 7 years. What has made me stay in GLV for such long a time? I’m thinking over and over. My heart tells me that I joined this magic unit by fate; to stay here is for peace. This is the place that makes my heart peaceful. Peace created by the people connected to GLV, in whatever position they work in, study in, and teach in, you can feel the atmosphere of peace. Thanks to GLV, and I wish I can see many of you in the 20th, 30th year of GLV. Happy 10th Anniversary GLV!
Arthur Zhang China, Vice Director of Hangzhou GLV, 2002
I have been with GLV for seven of its ten-year history. I feel very proud and grateful. From a clerk to the Vice Director, I experienced so many “first times” in my life.
The first time I had a real foreign friend; the first time I hugged a foreigner, the first time I was embarrassed by a foreigner; the first time I quarreled with a foreigner; the first time I was praised and accepted by foreigners.
The first time I engaged in an educational career; the first time I set up GLV’s huge website; the first time I did marketing; the first time I dealt with difficult student complaints; the first time I recruited; the first time I learned how to be a leader, the first time I gave a speech, the first time I arranged a new school; the first time I was called a teacher by others.
The first time I spent my spring festival far away from my hometown; the first time I used a laptop; the first time I took a plane; the first time I drove; the first time I surfed; The first time I stayed in a five star hotel; The first time I traveled abroad…..
Although there is pain and enjoyment in every “first time”, I really appreciate the opportunities GLV has given me. GLV makes my life colorful. There are more and more “first times” waiting for me to conquer. Meanwhile I will try my best to create more “first times” for GLV!
Alan Fryback USA, Management and Financial Consultant, 2005
GLV’s mission is to be a cultural bridge between China and the rest of the world. More than tolerance GLV promotes understanding, acceptance and appreciation of cultural diversity. Understanding and appreciating differences not only improves international relations but also family relationships. Now on this 10th anniversary GLV is celebrating 10 years of consistent effort that has influenced the attitudes and awareness of thousands of people. This is GLV’s strength and the secret of its success. GLV is more than a language school; it is an educational experience that contributes to the building of a spiritual civilization.
Murphy Rong China, Staff, 2007
I have been working in GLV for almost 2 years. GLV is my first job.
The reason I have stayed in GLV for such a long time, is because I like the people and environment here. I like the GLV culture.
This year is the 10th year of GLV. I believe that GLV will continue its progress. We will see the 20th year of GLV, 30th year of GLV…
Best wishes to you, GLV! We love you!

Ten years ago you were an English club. Ten years later you are a famous English school. Your amazing progress has made all staff feel proud and happy. Your development includes all the people‘s hard work, includes all the people‘s great dreams. Now we all celebrate your 10th anniversary and celebrate our hard work.
