The English Program (Overview)

The English Program at GLV has three (3) components based on the Step Theory:

1). Skills Based English - These classes are held in the mornings and Monday, Wednesday Levels 1 - 4), and Friday afternoons. They are devoted to learning the structure and patterns of English that is being taught in the morning using the New Interchange curriculum. Students have one teacher assigned to them (Skills Class Teacher).

2). Learning with English (Electives and Workshops) - Electives and workshops provide the students with an opportunity to explore the world through a variety of topics with English as the tool of learning. Students in levels 3 - 8 have the opportunity to choose the classes they wish to take based on the topics from a list given to them by their teacher on the first Monday morning. Levels 1-2 students will be assigned a class.

3). Real-World English - These classes are held in the evenings. Students in this section are exposed to a sampling of the challenges they will face in an English-speaking environment. See the description of the Evening Program.
